Materials and compatibility
The official 17 Pro Symmetry page lists a polycarbonate layer, thermoplastic elastomer and magnets. The earlier description of a purely soft rubber-and-silicone case was incorrect.
The page specifies iPhone 17 Pro compatibility. Pro Max is a different phone, so choose its explicitly compatible case rather than relying on a marketplace page’s default variant. The reviewed page also lists an integrated Camera Control button; check the exact version and finish you order.
Understanding the drop claim
OtterBox advertises a 3X military-standard drop claim referencing 810G-516.6. That is the manufacturer’s claim. It is not a three-times drop-height guarantee or proof that a screen cannot break. We removed the blanket comparison with a supposed 10-foot rating across the Defender family because different models require their own specifications.
MagSafe and raised edges
OtterBox lists built-in magnets for MagSafe accessories and raised edges around the camera and screen. These design features are useful to consider, but do not guarantee every charger, mount or screen protector combination will fit or work identically.

Who should consider it?
Consider Symmetry if its documented features fit your needs and you prefer its design over bulkier alternatives. Compare the current price, dimensions, grip preferences and return policy. We have not established it as the thinnest case or the best option for every owner.
