Choose MacBook Neo accessories around its USB 3 and USB 2 ports, single-display limit and exact dimensions instead of assuming every USB-C hub fits.
MacBook Neo does not have Thunderbolt. Buy accessories that explicitly support its USB-C capabilities, and identify the faster port before attaching a display or high-speed drive.

The two ports have different functions
Apple’s illustrated port tour shows the USB 3 and USB 2 connections. Both USB-C ports are on the same side of the laptop; “left” and “right” in the illustration should not be read as opposite sides of the computer.
The specifications give USB 3 up to 10Gb/s and USB 2 up to 480Mb/s. The USB 3 port supports one external display up to 4K at 60Hz alongside the built-in display. The USB 2 port does not provide that video output.
Hubs: a connector shape is not a compatibility promise
The earlier “any USB-C hub works perfectly” claim was wrong. Check host compatibility, display mode, available power and each downstream port. Thunderbolt-only hardware may not provide a USB fallback.
The Anker 555 A8383 is an example of a USB-C multiport hub with HDMI and card readers. Its documented pass-through output is up to 85W with a suitable input, not 100W delivered to the laptop. Confirm the maker’s current Neo compatibility before ordering; the hub cannot override the Mac’s one-display limit.
Sleeves and stands
Check the Neo’s actual dimensions against a sleeve’s internal measurements. A generic 13-inch label is not a fit guarantee, and a fitted shell must explicitly name the model. Compare support area and load limits when choosing a stand.
Fanless cooling does not mean temperature and airflow no longer matter. Use the computer on an appropriate surface and follow Apple’s operating guidance.
Charging and storage
The reviewed U.S. specifications list a 20W adapter, not the 30W unit previously claimed. Packaging can vary by region. Apple’s adapter guidance explains USB Power Delivery requirements; a larger number on an adapter is not a guarantee of proportionally faster charging.
A USB-C SSD can add storage, subject to the port and drive capabilities. Keep a separate backup of important files. Use the USB 2 connection for charging when that leaves the faster connection available for an appropriate accessory.
