Choose an Air hub, charger, sleeve, stand or SSD by exact model and task. Check shared charging power and fitted accessories before reusing a kit.
Start with what your MacBook Air setup cannot currently do. A missing port, uncomfortable screen height or lack of backup storage is a better reason to buy an accessory than a universal kit list.

M4 and M5: check before reusing fitted gear
Apple’s current Air specifications and model-specific support pages establish dimensions, ports and display capabilities. Many general USB-C accessories can be useful across generations, but that does not prove every fitted case, sleeve or dock works unchanged.
Match the 13-inch or 15-inch size and the maker’s supported models. Our earlier promise that an entire M4 kit automatically moves to M5 was too broad.
Hubs and display connections
Choose a compact hub if you need an occasional HDMI, USB-A, card-reader or Ethernet connection. Check its actual ports; “8-in-1” is not a standardized feature list. A powered dock can suit a fixed desk with enough peripherals to justify it.
Match display resolution, refresh rate, cable and the Mac’s native external-display limit. More sockets on a hub do not guarantee more independent screens. See the hub and dock guide.
Charging: total output is not laptop output
Use Apple’s fast-charge combinations for the exact Air model. A multi-port adapter labeled 70W does not necessarily leave 70W for the Mac while it charges a phone too. Read its output-sharing table.

Sleeve, stand and external controls
Check a sleeve’s internal dimensions, zipper clearance and space for any case. Avoid assuming that any “13-inch” label establishes fit. For a stand, check the support surface, load rating and stability.
When raising the screen, an external keyboard and pointer can let you position the display independently from your hands. Comfort varies by person; this is not a medical or ergonomic guarantee.
SSD and backups
Choose capacity and connection speed for your actual files. Maximum drive speed also depends on the host port, cable and workload. An SSD containing the only copy of a project is not a backup.
