Fit: start with the supplied tips
Apple’s ear-tip guide explains generation-specific tips and fit. Pro 3 uses the Acoustic Seal Test, while Pro 1 and Pro 2 use the Ear Tip Fit Test. Different ears can need different sizes. For Pro 3, the best size for heart-rate sensor contact can differ from the best acoustic seal.
Try the included sizes before buying replacements. Apple sells replacement tips through the store linked in that guide. For third-party tips, confirm the exact generation, compatibility with charging and any effect on the functions you use. We have removed the guarantee that a generic foam tip or hook fixes every fit problem.

Case covers: match the generation
Compare Pro 3 and AirPods 4 dimensions with the cover maker’s list. A cover can add bulk and change access to the port, speaker or controls. It is not a guarantee against hinge wear or a broken case.
Do not assume a Pro 2 cover fits Pro 3. If wireless charging matters, confirm the cover supports that use and check the fit before discarding its packaging. Unsupported drop-performance rankings between generic silicone and hard-shell products have been removed.
Chargers: check the case, not just the earbud name
The standard AirPods 4 case charges through USB-C. AirPods 4 with ANC also supports Qi and Apple Watch chargers. Pro 3 adds the MagSafe charging case described in Apple’s specifications. Wireless capability does not imply identical magnetic attachment across all these cases.

Travel audio: Twelve South AirFly Pro 2
Twelve South’s documentation describes a transmitter for 3.5mm audio sources, pairing two headphone sets and more than 25 hours of advertised runtime. It can be useful for a compatible seatback or other headphone jack; check the actual source before buying. We have not measured latency or runtime.

Cleaning: follow the model-specific method
Apple’s Pro cleaning guide specifies the tools, areas and drying period for each method. It includes a micellar-water method for designated Pro 2 and Pro 3 meshes and links a Belkin kit. It does not justify our earlier blanket endorsement of scraping tools or cleaning putty.
Follow that full illustrated procedure; avoid sharp objects and abrasive materials. Do not put anything into charging ports, and observe the drying instructions before use or charging. A cleaning accessory is optional if you already have the materials Apple specifies.
