Try documented Siri interactions and distinguish current iOS 26 capabilities from Siri AI announcements, developer testing and later availability.
Start with a task your installed version of Siri documents: a timer, a reminder, a call or a typed request. “Siri 2.0” is an imprecise label. It can refer to existing Apple Intelligence improvements or to the separate Siri AI preview, which has its own release conditions.

1. Make a simple request
Ask for a short timer or an alarm at a specific time, then check the confirmation. Apple’s activation guide explains voice and button methods. Start with one clear instruction so you can tell whether Siri heard the words correctly before trying a more involved task.
2. Continue a supported conversation
With Apple Intelligence enabled on supported hardware, Siri can retain context between related requests. A location-based question followed by a question about the next day is a different task from completing a reservation across several apps. 3. Type when speaking is inconvenient
Use the typing option available for your configuration. With Apple Intelligence enabled, the bottom-of-screen gesture opens typed input. Accessibility settings provide another typing path when Apple Intelligence is unavailable. Typing can help you avoid a misheard name; it does not unlock unavailable features.
4. Ask about an iPhone setting
Product-knowledge questions are documented for supported Apple Intelligence configurations. Ask how to find a device control, then compare the answer with the setting actually present on your phone. Labels can differ across iOS versions. Our settings guide covers common controls.
A shortcut provides an explicit sequence you can inspect and adjust. It should not be confused with an assistant independently carrying out any imagined sequence across apps. Check the actions, permissions and confirmation steps in the shortcut before relying on it.
What is separately announced for Siri AI?
Apple’s 2026 announcement describes Siri AI developer testing separately from wider beta availability later in the year. Personal-context and expanded app-action demonstrations should be read with those conditions. Installing a public operating-system beta does not establish that every preview feature is enabled.
When an example does not work
Check whether Siri transcribed the request correctly, whether the action is supported in your app, and whether your device and language meet the feature’s requirements.
