Where the report came from
Macworld’s May 29 report described its source’s proposed Dark Cherry, light blue, dark gray and silver options and discussed dummy-model images shared by Sonny Dickson. Macworld characterized Dark Cherry as closer to purple than red. These are the publication’s reports and descriptions, not iPhoneExtra’s inspection of an actual device.
The report itself allowed that a proposed option could be dropped. Repetition of the same leak is not necessarily independent confirmation. We therefore do not describe a four-color lineup, the absence of black or a particular material as settled.
What the pictures can and cannot tell you
A render or dummy model can illustrate a report. It cannot verify the finish, texture, durability or appearance of the final product in your room. Images accompanying this rumor coverage should not be understood as our photographs of a retail device.
Lighting, camera processing and your display can also change how a color appears. After a product is announced, compare official imagery and, where possible, a physical sample before choosing a finish that matters to you.
Color does not establish specifications
A rumored shade cannot prove the enclosure material, camera system, case dimensions or manufacturing process. The earlier version inferred manufacturing and resale consequences without supporting evidence. Those statements have been removed.
Choosing a color without predicting its resale value
Choose a finish you expect to enjoy, and consider how much of it your case will show. Do not assume a rumored new color will command a higher resale price. Condition, configuration, demand and the actual offer would need to be considered at sale time.
