A practical Siri guide separating available Apple Intelligence features from announced Siri AI, with device requirements, setup and privacy sources.
Siri features arrive in stages. Existing Apple Intelligence improvements should not be confused with the separately announced Siri AI. Check a feature's availability for your device, language and software before buying a phone or installing a beta for it.

What can you use now?
Apple's current iPhone guide describes typing to Siri, more flexible handling of spoken requests, contextual follow-up requests and help with Apple product settings on supported Apple Intelligence devices. Ask a simple question, then a related follow-up; successful conversational context does not imply the assistant can perform an arbitrary chain of actions across apps.
Start with a specific task you can check, such as a timer, reminder or setting. Check the resulting item before relying on it. These examples are suggestions to try, not reports of tests conducted by iPhoneExtra.
What is announced for Siri AI?
Apple's iOS 27 preview describes a dedicated Siri app, personal context and expanded app actions. Its current availability statement says Siri AI is coming in English later in 2026. We have not verified these announced capabilities in a particular public beta build. A preview demonstration does not establish that every beta user can perform it.
Do not base a purchase on our former claims about receipt-to-spreadsheet automation, automatic restaurant booking or an English-only regional rollout already operating in the beta. Those examples and availability claims lacked adequate evidence.
Which devices support Apple Intelligence?
Apple's eligibility guide lists iPhone 15 Pro models and iPhone 16 models or later; the base iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are not included. For iPad, it includes iPad mini with A17 Pro and M1-or-later models; Macs require Apple silicon. Software, language, region and feature-specific conditions also apply. General Apple Intelligence eligibility does not guarantee every announced Siri AI capability.
How to check setup
Open Settings and look for Apple Intelligence & Siri. Follow the device's setup prompts, check that device and Siri languages match a supported language, and allow required models to download. If a feature is absent, check its documented requirements first. Installing beta software is not a general troubleshooting fix.
What happens to your data?
Apple describes local processing and Private Cloud Compute for supported Apple Intelligence requests. We do not have evidence for the former claim that exactly 80% of requests stay on-device. Nor should Apple's own processing guarantees be applied automatically to a separate third-party integration or account. Read the disclosure shown for the feature you enable.
