The iOS 27 public beta is available through the Apple Beta Software Program. You no longer need to wait for the public beta to open. A public beta is still unfinished software; availability does not make it the best choice for your main phone.

Where the release cycle stands
- Public beta: available from Apple’s beta program. Use the version offered for your enrolled device rather than an old beta number from an article.
- General release: Apple’s iOS 27 preview describes a fall release. A season is not a confirmed launch day.
- Siri AI: Apple separately says it is coming in English later in 2026. Do not assume that installing the current iOS beta enables every Siri feature shown in the preview.
Developer beta or public beta?
The developer channel supports app development and testing. The public program lets enrolled users try prerelease software and report issues. These channels can offer different builds at different times. Neither guarantees that banking, work, accessibility or travel apps will behave as they do on the public operating system.
If you need your only iPhone to remain dependable, wait for the general release and check the compatibility of the apps you rely on. Installing a beta to see one announced feature is a poor trade if that feature is not actually included in the offered build.
Before installing
Check your exact model in Apple’s compatibility list, make a backup before changing software, and retain an archived computer backup from the public version. Do not overwrite the only backup you could use to return to the earlier system. Our public beta installation guide explains the preparation.
Apple Intelligence eligibility is separate from operating-system compatibility. Apple’s requirements list supported hardware, language and regional conditions. Check the particular feature you want rather than treating an iOS version number as a promise of full AI support.
Leaving the beta
Turning Beta Updates off stops future beta updates; it does not immediately return the phone to an earlier operating system. Apple’s beta-removal instructions explain the erase-and-restore route to the current public software. A backup created on newer beta software may not work with an earlier public version. Check that limitation before installing, not after deciding to leave.
How to check the next milestone
Use Apple’s beta program for enrollment and its iOS preview for the announced release window. When a public release becomes available, check Software Update and the associated release notes. An expected event date, a rumor about a new iPhone, and an operating-system launch date are separate claims.
